Description: I received this special radio only promotional copy of WASP's single Love Machine when I worked in radio. Never played it and it has been stored away for over 35 years, so the record itself is mint, unplayed in its original paper sleeve having never been removed from it. I slid it partially out to take one photo. The spine of the record cover has wear, see description below.

This single was put out by Capitol Records in 1984 to radio only and was not made available to the general public. Love Machine written by Blackie Lawless is probably the best known song from the debut W.A.S.P. album. For a WASP collector this is a rarity because with metal bands airplay in general being limited, probably only a few hundred were manufactured, with most copies being discarded by the station as unplayable due to its heaviness and content.

Just as summer vacation was fizzling out like an old sparkler for us depressed kids, Blackie and his band of boobs were pressing their third single in five months and their second (the track "F**k Like a Beast" was supposed to be on the debut, but was dropped for obvious reasons) in support of a debut lp that was so new on the shelf it hadn't even began to warp in the August sun filtering through gunky record shop windows.
This particular single, however, was a 12" promo not meant for fourteen year old hands puckered from playing Marco Polo in the pool for the last three hours. In fact, only fortunate Japanese fans would see the much flashier public pressing of L.O.V.E. Machine in about a month.

No, normal folk really knew nothing of this thing?s existence ?cos it shipped straight to fairly important industry people i.e. disc jockeys, PR blokes, A&R fabricators and others crowned with such status, who received so many from so many labels it was likely flung into overstuffed racks and nearby stacks. Luckily, however, it did receive play, as did its video.
Anyway, both sides are machined with love, grooving the a-side with the Rock Radio mix, meanwhile the flip features the LP version. Oddly they're the same length, which became less of a mystery after determining they're essentially the same song, cause their differences escape me.
Condition: Vinyl - Mint and unplayed - Never fully removed from sleeve.

Cover -generic black cover with large red sticker. Stamped - "Promotional Copy / Not For Sale" The condition is good - The spine is worn with a three inch and one inch section having significant wear. The back cover has some age wear as seen in photos. Paper sleeve has fold as that is how it was originally packed.Please see photos or ask for more if you want.
