This is our grading scale; we grade the vinyl record separate from the cover and sleeve. All records are graded visually unless otherwise noted. If there is a significant defect it will be noted along with the grading code. Please view our pictures for actual condition of each item.
Vinyl Record Grade
- Mint (M) For items that are absolutely perfect and are sealed/unopened.
- Near Mint (NM) This should be a nearly perfect record that should show no obvious signs of wear or other defects.
- Excellent (EX) Record will show only very minor defects and generally not more than a few. This is still a very nice looking record that should play perfectly. Only minor flaws allowed on records or labels.
- Very Good (VG) Record will show some signs of use or handling but it has been well taken care of. Expect to see minimal small defects like a few light scuffing and/or light scratches or small markings on label.
- Good (G) Record will have a little heavier wear. May have several light scratches and scuffs but record should play through. Labels may have more obtrusive markings such as writing or stickers. No heavy scratches, cracks or chips. Outside rim edge may have small defect caused by manufacturing but should not affect play.
- Poor (P) Generally this record is in the trash but it may be a hard to find piece that still has some value due to rarity. Obvious cracks or scratches and untested so don?t expect much.
Cover Grade is Separate from our Vinyl Record Grade
- Near Mint (NM) LP covers should be nearly perfect with no seam splits, cut-out holes, creases, stickers, writing, general wear or other defects. EP and 45 rpm sleeves should also be free of all but the most minor defect.
- Excellent (EX) LP Covers should have some wear on surface or edges, bruised corners, small markings, NO WRITING, small stickers but generally not a lot of defects. SLEEVE is included.
- Very Good (VG) Covers have more obvious wear on surface or edges, bent corners, small seam split, small markings, small stickers, may have writing but generally not a lot of defects and sleeve is NOT Included.
- Good (G) Covers have rips, taped seams, lots of writing but overall intact with multiple defects sleeve is NOT included.
