Description

Jacques Thibaud was a French violinist born in 1880.  Trained by his father, he entered the Paris Conservatoire at the age of 13.  At the age of 16, he jointly won the conservatory violin prize with Pierre Monteux, who went on to become a famous conductor.  Thibaud was noted not only for his solo work, but also for his performances of chamber music, particularly in a piano trio with pianist Alfred Cortot and cellist Pablo Casals.  On this Victrola release there are two pieces on one side--"Moment Musical" and "Minuet Caprice"--featuring violin with piano.  This is a 10" one-sided record, 78 RPM.  For a Thibaud collector, this record is a great find, as well as for those appreciate "superstar" violinists.
