Description

Offered here is this rare, original, three disc, 78 rpm record set titled Volonte. This set was a special souvenir album issued in commemoration of the Bicentennial celebration and World's Fair held in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti in 1949. The cover of the album shows a Haitian drummer with chains around his wrists over a map of Haiti seen through what looks like a gun sight.  The back cover shows the general view of the exposition grounds.  The three ten-inch discs (Venus Records, Miami Recording Co. Miami, Fla.) are in excellent condition showing no visible wear or scratches. There is some loss to the label on the front of the album. (see photos)  I could not find another set online, nor even a mention of it in discographies.  I have never seen this set of records before, and I am certain that they were not produced in great quantity, making them quite rare in the collector market.  Buyer to pay priority post and insurance.
