Description

Up for auction are 4 boxed sets of the 4 operas of the Ring series titled Der Ring Des Nibelungen by Richard Wagner.  They are:  Das Rheingold (3 LP's); Die Walkurie (5 LP's); Siegfried (5 LP's); and Gotterdamerung (6 LP's). The total is 19 LP's and  I have listened to every record and found the quality was excellent.  Each boxed set includes the libretto in both German and English and a synopsis of the story in the opera; plus more.  Three sets are conducted by Georg Solti of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.  But Die Walkure is directed by Eric Leinsdorf of the London Symphony Orchestra.  Featured singers from the 4 boxed sets are:

Kirsten Flagstad
George London
Gustav Neidlinger
Set Svanholm
Jon Vickers
Gre Brouwenstijn
David Ward
Birgit Nilsson
Rita Gorr
Wolfgang Windgassen
Hans Hotter
Gerhard Stolze
Joan Sutherland  (in Siegfried as the Forest Bird)
Claire Watson
Christa Ludwig
Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau
Gottlob Frick

I don't know if the boxed set for Die Walkure belongs with the others.  It has a different album picture, different director and different orchestra.  All 4 boxed sets were together when I got them.  They are all London recordings.

Thanks for looking!
