FROM WIKI.....

He formed his own band, the Seniors, at the end of 1959. Other original members of the group were Billy Hughes (rhythm guitar), Stan Foster (piano) - both of whom had been in the Hy-Tones - together with Brian Griffiths (lead guitar), Paul Whitehead (bass) and Jeff Wallington (drums). They soon added lead singer Derry Wilkie, a black British singer who had previously sung with the Hy-Tones. As Derry and the Seniors, the group performed in local venues, and in May 1960, after appearing in a show headed by Gene Vincent, were invited to audition for the role of backing band for Liverpool star Billy Fury. Although they did not win the audition, they were invited by Fury's manager Larry Parnes to go to London to perform at the 2i's Coffee Bar in Soho.

A few weeks later, they played at the 2i's, and happened to be seen there by Bruno Koschmider, a visiting German club owner who was looking for acts that he could use in his Hamburg club, the Kaiserkeller. The Seniors travelled to Germany and played regularly in Hamburg over the summer of 1960, later being joined there by rival Liverpool group, the Beatles. However, as the group members did not have work permits or visas, they were repatriated to the UK in October 1960. At the start of 1961, the group reformed using the name Howie Casey and the Seniors, with Frank Wibberley on drums, and Wilkie sharing vocals with Freddie Fowell, who later changed his name to Freddie Starr. They then signed a recording deal with Fontana Records, becoming the first beat group from Liverpool to record an LP. The album, Twist At The Top, was issued in February 1962, together with a single, "Double Twist". Two further singles followed, "I Ain't Mad At You" and "The Boll Weevil Song", but they were not hits. The group broke up in mid 1962.

Notes

Sleeve Notes:
By any mane - il Torcemento, La Torsion or La Torcedura or simply, the Twist - it's the newest craze. How and when did the Twist begin? Most social historians say that about a year ago, teenage singer Chubby Checker introduced it in a disc-jockey show in Philadelphia. Taking it from there, local dancers evolved and elaborated upon the Twist by crooking their elbows, bending forward as if suddenly seized with acute appendicitis and moving their hips and shoulders in opposite directions. Now the Twist has hit England, and students of the art can expect to see local variations taking place. Making Twistory!
The Twist At The Top Club - next door neighbours to the famous Room At The Top - opened to the wailin' sound of Howie Casey and the Seniors. Howie plays tenor sax, Brian Griffiths guitar, Phillip Whitehead on bass and Frank Wibberley on drums. The two singers are Derry Wilkie and Freddy Fowell, and the group originated in the Liverpool area and part of their career included a three - month stint at the Kaiser Keller in Hamburg. As resident band at the Twist At The Top, and through records, their exuberant, meaty sound will twist them to greater fame.

There may be slight paper scuffs or hairlines - if you require further condition reports please just ask.

I will be listing records etc. from my collection from time to time and you can be assured that the condition will always be very good to excellent. I do not usually use mint as that would only be on a new item.

I would not sell anything which I would not be happy to purchase myself and you can view my great feedback for peace of mind.
