Jazz Side 1 - Track 1. Home Again Side 1 - Track 2. Red Match Box Side 2 - Track 1. Bits & Things Side 2 - Track 2. Dedication To Brahms Side 2 - Track 3. Candy Girl

American piano wizard Mal Waldron's long-lost 1975 Paris session resurfaces, recorded with members of the Lafayette Afro Rock Band at producer Pierre Jaubert's fabled studio. By this point Waldron had rebuilt his music in Europe, stripping jazz down to modal intensity and hypnotic groove. Here, that stark approach collides with Lafayette's raw funk engine: 'Home Again' simmers on a low-slung vamp, while 'Red Match Box' is crisp, break-heavy, and built for future samplers. The title track drifts in a mesmeric minor-key waltz, coloured by clavinet and Moog, and 'Dedication to Brahms' deconstructs Romantic classicism into a sparse jazz reverie. Spontaneous, unvarnished and electric, this meeting captures Waldron outside his polished Japanese sessions - a rare convergence of exile jazz and underground funk finally pulled into the light.
