WALTER BISHOP JR. – Crucible (1978) Muse-5151 – M-/M- (cover/vinyl) WHITE LABEL PROMO
An incredible funky and spiritual modal jazz set by this pianist who had two albums on Black Jazz Records earlier in the 1970s. Je’s joined by players like Rene McLean, Curtis Fuller, Pepper Adams, Billy Hart, Ray Mantilla and others. Tracks are “Valley Land,” “My Little Suede Shoes,” “Those Who Chant,” “Summertime,” “Now, Now That You’ve Left Me,” and “Crucible.” Such a killer album – one of the best on the label, and it stands among his greatest work.
This is a beautiful copy. The cover is tight and crisp and intact with no wear. The WHITE LABEL PROMO vinyl is clean and glossy and looks unplayed. I grade this conservatively: M-/M- (cover/vinyl).
