Description
This is both of the Bach synthesizer albums made by Walter Carlos, later Wendy Carlos. A beautiful original 1968 first pressing of the famed Switched-On Bach LP by Walter, with the original grey 2-Eye Columbia label, the rarest and by far the best pressing. And also the 1980 double-LP by Wendy, Switched on Brandenburgs, featuring all six complete concertos. Both are original first pressings and both are in near immaculate condition and play absolutely flawlessly and just beautifully. The 1968 album really sounds incredible on the original pressing, as we all know that Columbia pressings became cheap and of a far-lesser quality after the 60s, so here is a rare high-quality copy from before that happened. If you haven't heard an original pressing you are in for a treat. Much more present and "three-dimensional", you might say. I find the difference to be quite dramatic.
Anyhow the cover on Switched on Bach is nearly pristine with just touches of minute wear from gentle handling. The cover for the Brandenburg LP is slightly more worn, with a touch of edgewear and ringwear but really barely. Still shiny with its dramatic metallic silver, and just beautiful. I rarely see either of these records in such gorgeous shape. Hard to beat either.
