The Ideal Beginning 7"
"Enigma" records, PSS138, 1981 (Label marked 1977)
These are the very earliest songs that the group later known as Joy Division recorded. They pre-date the proposed RCA album that the band recorded while still called WARSAW. The record itself was released in 1981 (although the label states 1977, when the recordings were made) following the death of Ian Curtis in mid-1980 and was issued as a semi-boot, reportedly with consent from the band. It's cover looks very similar to the first JD single, "An Ideal For Living", even down to the four-panel fold out cover. It is an essential addition to any serious JD collection.
