Description
ULTRA RARE Jimi HENDRIX 7" picture disc single
Amnesty International ?– Untitled - Genre: Non-Music - Style: Speech - Year: 1988 - 1991
Format: Vinyl, 7", 33 ? RPM, Picture Disc, Unofficial Release
More than 30 years ago Amnesty International pressed a highly limited edition set of commemorative 7" picture discs to mark a conference being held at the time.
The set of discs featured many famous music icons of the time, including Jimi HENDRIX.
There are at least 10 different picture disc releases including one photo of Jimi HENDRIX (on one side only). It seems that all photos are taken from magazines ?
This one : shows a picture of Jimi HENDRIX on one side and a strange picture on the other side (unknown musicians ? legs).
Those pressings were extremely limited : no more than 5 copies of most of each, that is quite strange ...
Therefore these discs seem to be unofficial, they do not have catalogue numbers.
There is a matrix number on this one (on both sides): "BSAPC . 7 -1"
The full black and white picture disc does not contain any music but rather spoken extracts from the conference held for the “Human Rights Now ! tour“ of 1988 (featuring Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Peter Gabriel, Tracy Chapman, and Youssou N'Dour).
The artists pictured on the discs are unconnected to the event and no recordings by them are contained on the discs. The pictures in the discs have been cut from magazines.
