Genesis, the sole album by San Francisco-based sisters Wendy and Bonnie Flower, is a remarkable and often overlooked gem from 1969. The album is radiant, brimming with sisterly harmonies, breezy Brazilian splashes, and soft-rock sophistication that belie the tender ages of the artists (Wendy 17, Bonnie 13). This reissue, produced by Irwin Chusid, author of Songs In The Key Of Z: The Curious Universe Of Outsider Music, with the full participation of Wendy and Bonnie, marks the album's long-awaited reissue. Overloaded with melodic confections, the set's breezy arrangements and sophisticated soft rock touches make Genesis a great listen for fans of sunshine pop. The album's timeless charm and the Flower sisters' enchanting harmonies make it a masterpiece of West Coast rock, ensuring any listener will be left positively beaming. Genesis stands as a beautiful slice of soft psych heaven, finally receiving the recognition it deserves.
