The long-overdue reissue of the JB's classic captures Fred Wesley and his powerhouse horn ensemble at their peak. They were the driving force behind James Brown, Parliament-Funkadelic and George Clinton's funk revolution from the late 60s through the 90s and emerged from the creative crucible of early 70s Black America. This work drips with funk and is anchored by Moog-y synths, explosive drumming and a fat horn section. Standout track 'Blow Your Head' must have hit like a sonic nuclear bomb in its day and it remains that way now. Like the album overall, it is ahead of its era and remains influential across hip hop, neo-soul, and funk generations.
