Delightful time travel, I purchased this "West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band" album that was released in 1967, in 1968.
About "West Coast Pop Art," we really didn't know who these guys were. In 1968, sources for artist information was word of mouth, underground FM radio, live concerts, advertisements, record jackets, posters, flyers, and an emerging print media. In the case of WCPAEB part one, the musicians are not even listed on the album jacket. But for certain, WCPAEB was a cut-above. Inventive, eclectic, cynical, electric folksy, bizarre, unconventional, and sometimes cutting edge, the musicianship and vocal harmonies matched up to other west coast psychedelic bands of the late 60's. The band's instrumental version of the Van Dyke Parks song "High Coin," by the way, is a treasure.
Reprise Records, moreover, did a very good job of capturing the conglomerate sound of the band's unique mix of harmonies, lyrics, word play, clean twelve string electrics, distortion driven guitars, fluid bass, and tasteful percussive interplay.
This LP is from my personal collection and I am its original owner. I handle records with care and play them back on good turntables.
About vinyl recordings like this one, these are time capsules. I'm not an audio authority, but for me, when vintage LP's have been taken care of, those vinyl pressings, sourced from the original analogue tapes, recapture the experience of listening to that record as it sounded when first issued. No digital, no remastering, and no reinterpretation.
Before listing this LP, I visually inspected it and moreover, enjoyed it in its entirety with a goal, to the best of my ability, provide an evaluation of its condition as played on my turntable and through my audio system.
About the jacket cover, inner sleeves, labels, spine, and so forth, please review the attached photos for an additional perspective about its condition. Moreover, the photos of the LP labels provide a listing of the album tracks, writing credits, catalog number, pressing clues, country of origin, and so forth.
The record will be housed in a quality inner sleeve and packaged in a cardboard mailer designed for shipping vinyl.
