Description

HERE'S YOUR SECOND CHANCE at a great record, "WEST END BLUES" by ZACK WHYTE AND HIS CHOCOLATE BEAU BRUMMELS.  Couple weeks ago, I offered a Supertone of "West End"; here is a better-condition Decca-Champion for your consideration. For some reason, Decca called the band "CHUCK NELSON AND HIS BOYS." But it's the same side, all right.  I quote herewith from my previous description:

"One of only three records issued by this fantastic and accomplished band, these guys played as if they KNEW THAT, making every second count, in a side packed with incident.  SY OLIVER (trumpet) is a prominent voice, as is AL SEARS (baritone sax) and FLOYD BRADY (trombone).

"Zach Whyte's Chocolate Beau Brummels played up and down the midwestern-southwestern states, never getting to Chicago or New York.  It's too bad, because they were just accomplished as hell, both musically and sartorially, and could have succeeded smartly in those places - and recorded more often!  But we're lucky to have even ONE record by them, let alone three!"

The flip side of this record is by PAUL'S NOVELTY ORCHESTRA, doing the then (1930) brand-new "I GOT RHYTHM," fresh from "Girl Crazy." "Paul's Novelty Orchestra" is really the bunch from GREY GULL, the house band, with MIKE MOSIELLO (trumpet), ANDY SANNELLA (alto sax) and cohorts.  They do a tails-up, snappy version.

This original 1934 Decca Champion 40016 is in E- condition.  A little wear, some scratches. A great-playing copy!

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing!  My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value.  I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all.  If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will!  Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.”  I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
