Description

You are buying an LP called WESTERN PLAYHOUSE : Songs and Stories of the Great Wild West adapted from CLASSICS ILLUSTRATED MAGAZINE and produced by Lion Records in 1960. I would like to quote from Dan Malan's Complete Guide to Classics Collectibles, Volume 1: U.S. Classics Illustrated & Related Collectibles published in 1991: page 95: "In 1958, the next wave of CI A/V items began, the LP era. From 1958-1960, they(Gilberton) came out with a new LP every Christmas. The first LP was the JUNIOR LP, with Robert Q. Lewis narrating 12 JRS: 502, 504, 505, 506, 509, 512, 513, 514, 520, 524, 531, 535. Then in 1959 came 'Space Stories and Sounds,' with Bill Stern narrating CI#s 124, 133, 138, &144. I do not know what  JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH has to do with space, so we just call it the Sci-Fi LP. In 1960, the Western Playhouse LP featured Bob Wilson narrating CI#s 96, 112, 121, 129, plus portions of SPCL titles thrown in for good measure. These three early LP's were all by Lion Records, and are VERY RARE( my caps). THE WESTERN LP IS THE RAREST, with four known copies (three of which are actually Canadian), while the others have 5-10 known copies. They have been selling in the $100-$300 range."
