If you like us read the words White Lies and you start humming the melody to 'Farewell To The Fairground' or 'To Lose My Life' then fair enough. Great songs. But this album - the band's first since 2022's As I Try Not To Fall Apart - is not that. It's nothing like the band they were two decades ago: they've entered their space rock era and the band are self aware when it comes to the change. Speaking on the lead single 'Nothing On Me' they state: "It's reckless, unhinged... a rebirth, and an introduction." Their single 'In The Middle' is closer to the White Lies of old thanks to 80s pop references but still has this new krautrock flair that suits them brilliantly. It's among the finest recordings to come out of the esteemed The Church Studios in London in recent times and was produced by Riley MacIntyre (Ezra Collective, Arlo Parks) and mixed by Chris Coady (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Blondshell, Beach House). White Lies album seven is an all-timer.
