Description
RAMONA (DAVIES) and JOHNNY GREEN team up for some original and clever tunes in 1933: "WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?" and "WEEP NO MORE MY BABY." Victor thought enough of this coupling to bill it as "A Special Interpretation by Ramona" "with Johnny Green, the Composer." There's some wonderful four-handed two-piano work here, as well as Miss Ramona's always-sultry singing. She and Green evidently put much thought into that "Special Interpretation"!
Incidentally, Johnny Green (1908 - 1989) wrote "Body and Soul" and "Out of Nowhere," and besides being an ace pianist and orchestra leader, worked with EVERYBODY, was at the top of his profession in the radio, theater, and movie business, in executive or creative roles, for the rest of his life. SUCH a TALENTED macher !!
This original 1933 "Scroll" Victor 24384 is in slightly scuffed but quite playable E- condition.
PHOTOS: 1) Ramona Davies 2) Johnny Green, both about 1933.
*****
These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.” I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
An Unsolicited Testimonial!: "Superbatone is one of the coolest people on eBay - seriously. An excellent source for music, knowledge, and whimsy, and an asset to the community who cares about music and its preservation. It goes without saying that he is an expert in all facets surrounding 78’s and their content."
