AN ORIGINAL 1974 BUS BLIND - its final destination was the stop outside the hallowed Empress (the Casino) on Station Road, see pic.
Like many of us Northerners in the seventies and eighties on no or low income, to get to the Casino we either walked it, jumped the train or got the bus...
The blind measures 30” by 7” so is a fair size, Ive included a photograph of a bus in the seventies on the car park/terminus opposite the Casino wearing the blind.
These look great when framed up, see pics, the frame was a cheap three-photo one from Home Bargains, I just cut the pieces of cardboard out in between to make a single aperture.
I’ve had mine a few years now and has took me three years to find another.
The pics with the book and record are for scale, these items are not included in the sale.
Photograph 5 is a pic of the one I have framed and Photo 6 is just to show you were the buses pulled up outside the Casino before turning round.
Ive bought a good few bus blinds over the years, mainly local destinations and I’ve seen a lot of other Wigan town centre destinations but only ever seen two Station Roads, I’ve one here’s the other...you can pay £40 for a nonsense print from IKEA.
