Amazing !!! An unbelievable piece: What we have here is an unheard-of TEST PRESSING of the legendary Bluesman's first solo album, AUTOGRAPHED BY THE MAN HIMSELF! While many test pressings often have alternate or demo- versions of known, later released songs, and while it is possible that this particular test pressing contains demo or alternate versions of some of the tracks, please don’t assume that it does.
***
Having the audacity to state "I Am the Blues," would be preposterous if uttered by almost any other musician, but for Willie Dixon the statement is very close to the truth. As the songwriter behind some of the biggest blues classics ever recorded, had made smash hits for the likes of Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Howlin' Wolf and the rest of the legendary artists on the Chess Records roster back in the 1950s. With this album he brought his signature style to many of those same classics. Like his bass playing, Dixon's approach is mostly laid-back, lacking the aggression of the aforementioned wild men of the blues, but there is real joy in his voice, and his performances of these songs are about as good as you'll hear done, excepting of course the iconic originals.
(EXCERPT FROM AN ONLINE REVIEW BY KENNETH BRIGHAM, ALL MUSIC GUIDE /ALLMUSIC.COM/)
On this, the first solo album in his long career, the uncrowned king of urban (Chicago) blues, struts his stuff with the selection of his most memorable tracks, originally written for other artists. The musician credits read like who's-who of Chess Blues: Willie Dixon (Vocals, Bass), Walter 'Shakey' Horton (Harmonica); Sunnyland Slim or Lafayette Leake (Piano); Johnny Shines (Guitar) and Clifton James (Drums); Practically the cream of the Chess cream-of-the-crop is here - virtually the entire Chess house band of the mid-60’s. Much more diverse and much better executed than the similar efforts by his label mates Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf ("lovingly" titled, respectively, "Electric Mud" and "This is Howlin' Wolf's new album...he does not like it"), this collection boasts some of the best and most competent blues rhythm sections in memory. As a result, this is the Blues album that positively rocks - and then some. The songs (some of which are defining moments in the history of rock and blues) are: The Seventh Son - Spoonful - I'm your Hoochie Coochie man - The Little Red Rooster - Back Door Man - I ain't superstitious - I can't quit you baby - You shook me - The same thing.

· CONDITION:
· RECORD
(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)
(a) WE GRADE THE VINYL AS NEAR MINT. Some VERY LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL abrasions – mostly sleeve scuffs - are (barely) visible, but are probably inaudible, and do not affect visual integrity or beauty of the vinyl. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.
(b) The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!
(c) The record comes in the original stock inner sleeve.
(d) Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
· THE COVER
THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT EXCELLENT OR VERY GOOD++ (VG++).
The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:
- Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and 10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 3

- Cover has three corners slightly worn/dinged 126-
