Description
THE WILSON McKINLEY - "On Stage". (private; Voice of Elijah records; 1969). Great, top west coast psych jesus music LP. "Recorded at Pender Auditorium, Vancouver, B.C., Canada". Players: Mike Messer- lead guitar, vocals; Randy Wilcox- guitar, piano, vocals; Jimmy Bartlett- base (sic) guitar, vocals; Tom Slipp- drums. Cuts: Side One: "Children of the king(5:15), You gotta hear about my friend(3:00), Come be here(4:20), The love of my savior(3:50)". Side Two: "You ain't going nowhere(3:35), Trouble maker(2:00), I know the lord(4:10), He's coming to take his children(2:45), He's a friend of mine(3:30)". Joynson's 'Fuzz, Acid, Flowers' rates this as an *R2. From Ken Scott's 'Archivist', 3rd edition: "...the vibrant energy of the Jesus movement shines through making each of these (LPs) a cherished classic. Wilson McKinley's brand of west coast guitar psych seems rooted in the San Francisco Haight-Ashbury culture ... likened to Quicksilver ... the Byrds and The Grateful Dead". *Vinyl is VG+, shiny bright light surface marks, plays quiet! This copy has the oversize Orange cover with silkscreened pix of the band members on the front. Cover has some ring wear, some edge wear. Front cover color is still very bright, overall the front cover is about vg+. Back cover has ring wear, some stains, light general dirtiness. **Domestic postage, handling, insurance options: A) Media mail (slower) w/insurance: $5.00. B) Priority postage w/insurance: $8.00.
