WINDMILL FOLK Cruel War / The Vampire Song PRIVATE PRESS John Hassell Recordings
Windmill Folk, Cruel War b/w The Vampire Song.
Original vintage UK PRIVATE PRESS 7" housed in plain sleeve as issued, HAS LP 2017.
Released on the John Hassell Recordings label, London, England. The label issued a number of LPs and some 7", many of these the usual fare of school choirs and the like.
Little is known of Windmill Folk, and this 7" appears to have had a very small run, perhaps even less than the usual 99.
The single is undated but one online discography dates this as 1966. I feel it could be a tad later and perhaps early 1970s, but this is all guesswork.
The look and feel of the single and the catalogue number point to this being a Pye pressing.
NOTE that this item is a 7" and NOT an LP. Some online discographies have mistakenly presumed that the catalogue number of this release indicates that it is an LP.
Vinyl is visually near mint and hardly appears played. However the A side can only really be graded as VG, as the surfaces are a little noisy and crackly. I can only presume that this is inherent in the pressing. The only other issue of this which I've seen up for sale has similarly described playback. The B side plays much cleaner. There is a little run-in crackle, thereafter the B side plays EX.
Labels are in excellent and undefaced condition both sides with just one or two marginal storage/handling rubs. The labels do not have any tax or other type stamps or stickers.
