HERE WE HAVE A SUPERB, UK CAPITOL (PCTC 254) FIRST PRESSING (June 1975) OF PAUL McCARTNEY & WINGS' CLASSIC, "Venus And Mars" LP - ALL IN BEAUTIFUL, BARELY PLAYED CONDITION AND DELIVERING ABSOLUTELY SENSATIONAL AUDIO - IMPRESSIVELY RECORDED WITH A TREMENDOUS LOUD CUT

THE RECORD HAS THE UK BLACK/SILVER CAPITOL LABELS WITH THE 'VENUS AND MARS' LOGO AND "MADE IN GT. BRITAIN" TEXT
MATRIX: YEX 945 - 2U (etched 'A PORKY PRIME CUT') / YEX 946 - 1U (etched 'M ROOM')
AND IS HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL HEAVYWEIGHT, THICK CARD MATTE GATEFOLD SLEEVE
THE SET COMES COMPLETE WITH BOTH STICKERS, BOTH POSTERS AND THE ORIGINAL SQUARE CUT CORNER THICK CARD INNER SLEEVE AGAIN, ALL IN SUPERB CONDITION

SUPERB *COMPLETE* UK FIRST PRESS AND A FINER EXAMPLE WOULD BE PRETTY HARD TO LOCATE INDEED - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

After recording Band on the Run as a three-piece with wife Linda and guitarist Denny Laine, McCartney added Jimmy McCulloch on lead guitar and Geoff Britton on drums to the Wings lineup in 1974. Having written several new songs for the next album, McCartney decided upon New Orleans, Louisiana as the recording venue, and Wings headed there in January 1975.
As soon as the sessions began, the personality clash that had been evident between McCulloch and Britton during Wings' 1974 sessions in Nashville became more pronounced, and Britton — after a mere six month stay — quit Wings, having only played on three of the new songs. A replacement, American Joe English, was quickly auditioned and hired to finish the album.
The sessions themselves proved to be very productive, not only finishing the entire album, but also several additional songs including two future McCartney B-sides: "Lunch Box/Odd Sox" and "My Carnival".
McCartney also decided to link the songs together much like The Beatles had on Abbey Road to give the album a more continuous, coherent feel.

LABELS: CLEAN and UNMARKED with NO evident spindles. BEAUTIFUL, BARELY PLAYED RECORD
VINYL Visual: Both surfaces have their original DEEP, GLOSSY SHEEN and are practically UNMARKED (light hairlines only caused by the thick card inner which are of NO audio consequence)
VINYL Audio: The audio is absolutely SENSATIONAL THROUGHOUT - CRYSTAL CLEAR, STRONG, VIBRANT SOUND. Unbeatable depth and clarity on these first presses with a very impressively loud and powerful cut. The tracks segue together beautifully and there are NO scratches, NO sticks, NO jumps, NO surface noise. The album plays to an extremely high standard with SUPERB AUDIO CLARITY, NO groove-wear and NO distortion. Must be graded MINT(-) for audio - the playback is practically FLAWLESS. NOT over-graded in ANY way as I use STRICT RECORD COLLECTOR grading standards (please refer to my feedback and 'about me' page)
SLEEVE: The THICK, matte, 'Hipgnosis' gatefold is in SUPERB condition. GOOD, SQUARE and SOLID with none of the heavy ring/surface rubbing commonly associated with this heavy duty untreated sleeve. The thick spine is straight and true with all text CLEAR and SHARP - NEAR MINT
INNER: The original corner 'clipped' inner is CLEAN, BRIGHT and FRESH with NO splits to any of the edges. The record is now housed - and will be posted in - a new inner sleeve to avoid any 'knifing' damage to the original during transit - NEAR MINT
POSTERS: The two 29" x 20" posters are UNMARKED (never been on anyones wall) - NEAR MINT
STICKERS: The two Stickers are both unpealed and are are CLEAN and FRESH with NO creases - NEAR MINT
