Devon's prog-leaning classic rockers Wishbone Ash arrive already thinking architecturally, and this debut locks onto a single governing idea and worries it into form, the twin guitars of Andy Powell and Ted Turner braided so tightly they function like one extended instrument. Lines don't duel or grandstand - they coil, separate, rejoin, each phrase allowed full duration to burn itself into the air.'Blind Eye' establishes the grammar immediately, guitars crossing and recrossing over a steady, implacable pulse. 'Queen Of Torture' compresses the harmony into darker pressure, tension thickening with each return. 'Lady Whisky' and 'Errors Of My Ways' stretch melody across wider spans, letting space do much of the work.
