Description

Two 16 Inch Radio Transcription Discs recorded by Universal Recording Company, New York City.  One Complete 25 minute radio program on these two 16 inch, black lacquer coated acetate, 33 1/3 rpm discs.  These discs were recorded for reference purposes only and not available to the general public, very rare!

Woody Herman & His Orchestra from The Cafe Rouge at The Hotel Pennsylvania In New York City September 1, 1944.  Songs include "Who Dat Up Dere" vocal Woody Herman & band, "And Then You Kissed Me" vocal Francis Wayne, "A Fellow On A Furlough" vocal Woody Herman, "125th St. Frolic", "Sweet And Lovely" Joe Phillips tenor sax, "Flying Home".  Program is complete and 25 minutes.  Originally broadcast on The Blue Network

On the back side of both discs is the first 15 minutes of the radio program "The Word Of Life" hosted by Jack Wyrtzen.  

There is one label which is typed on the back of a Universal Recording Company label.  Universal Recording Company was owned by musician Raymond Scott.  The label is loose and can be re-attached to the disc.  

 I could not find any reference to any existing copy of this radio program in any online radio log or database

Discs are in Excellent condition with Excellent or better sound, Beautiful Discs!

Due to their size, 16 inch discs will not play on most standard turntables.   For $10 I can include a CD transfer of the entire disc for the buyer
