ATA Records welcome back Leeds ensemble Work Money Death with a four-track set steeped in spiritual jazz lineage and collective feeling. Opener 'Pain Becomes Prayer And The Prayer Becomes A Song' sets the tone with slow-building devotion, unfurling flute, harp and open-ended rhythm into a wide, searching drift. 'A Dance For The Spirits' follows with a deeper swing, its blues-rooted core lifted by Johnny Richards' fluid piano lines and glowing horn passages. On the flip, 'Brother Earl' moves from gentle flute meditation into rising emotional intensity, before 'Sometimes It's Death' closes in darker, heavier territory, where brass and woodwind circle around a brooding pulse. It's expansive, communal music, directed by spirit, memory and motion.
