COLLECTION ONLY BY VAN or LORRY: Easy to pick up - Collect from a ground floor house in South East London SE26- free parking in the road directly outside my front door. THE JUKEBOX IS ON WHEELS so it can be wheeled to the pavement- you will need a van though - it ideally needs to be kept upright. Note the dimensions of the machine and check your van can accommodate the size of the jukebox.

FOR SALE: A WURLITZER AMERICANA 1973 VINYL JUKEBOX, with 20 singles, and 15 x old British 50 pence coins with an original old black and white illustrated service manual with diagrams and trouble shooting pages and some jukebox tear off cards to write your selections on.
CONDITION:
This is a 41 year old mechanical machine and although it is in working order and will play records, I need to stress that it is not in perfect working order and has a couple of problems - some of the selections, particularly B sides may not select or will keep re-selecting by repeating the record.
Jukeboxes need regular servicing just like cars and these problems can be fixed. There are specialists who you can pay to clean and service it for you and will come to your home to do it or will take the jukebox away and work on it. Please don't buy the jukebox if you think it is perfect because they do suffer from wear and tear like any other mechanical machine. It is purely mechanical - not digital. If you play a good vinyl single on it though, it sounds great and has quite a powerful deep sound. It has a few large speakers inside and you can adjust the bass and treble inside the machine and the volume at the back by turning a key. The front of the machine opens up easily like the hood of a car by using a large screwdriver like a key. You can watch the record play when you have the hood up and the bottom of the machine also lifts down either side so you can get underneath to see the carousel and to do maintenance.
This machine has had some servicing from a jukebox specialist from the Twickenham area who came to my place to do it. I just pointed out which selections were not working and he worked on those. It will need some more work on it though.

I have replaced the old wheels which were broken with four new wheels bought from Ikea so the machine can be moved into position and you will be able to occasionally move it when needed. It is a plug in and play machine, that turns on and off at the mains. it takes old large British 50 pence pieces only. It doesn't seem to work with 5 or 10 pence pieces though . An old 50p will give you a few selections and you can retrieve the coins from the coin box when full and use again.
I am including 15 x heavy old 50 pence pieces. These coins are from the period 1969 to1981.
The jukebox can be set to free play as well but using the coins gives an original experience.

The Wurlitzer Americana 3700 jukebox was manufactured in 1973 and makes it a rarity like most Wurlitzers, the models changed each year. This one is in a beautiful turquoise colour which was a popular colour for American cars from the 1950's to the 1970's. It is a seventies jukebox and could fit in to a 1950's to 1970's or eclectic decor scheme easily. There are more images of it on the internet and You-tube clips of it to be found. It must have been originally imported from the USA and then I bought it from a family in Glasgow and have had it a few years now in my lounge. It is now in South East London and has enjoyed many parties and evenings of fun. 
It looks great especially when it's on and all lit up, you can even enhance it by placing a free standing rotating disco ball on top with a colour light to give that extra 70's disco feeling.
I have found that some of the best sounding singles to play on it are in fact 1960's to 1970's greats like Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey - Diamonds are forever, Bob Dylan, Roxy Music - Angel Eyes, David Bowie - Young Americans, Barry White, The Sparks, Michael Jackson - Billie Jean  etc, but you can even buy Lana Del Ray and Lady Gaga 7" picture discs and cut the middle out with a machine if you want a few more up to date songs. What's great is your hunt around on ebay and in record fairs, charity shops etc for songs you want to hear on it.

It is being sold without the vinyls as they are my own collection but I can include twenty 7" vinyls just to get you started but you may well have your own selection already that you want to add in. If you don't, you can pick up 7" singles from as little as 25p, 50p or £1 each in charity shops, car boot sales, markets, regular record fairs at Olympia in West London or if you visit the continent, the Sunday markets. European 7" singles are great because they nearly always have a hole in the middle and these are the type you need to look for this machine. Many singles from the 50's to the 70's in the UK had the option to punch the middle out easily or you can cut it using nail scissors. There are also devices you can buy that cut out the middle and companies that offer a service to remove the middle of your records. I have a manual metal device which I can include that I don't need anymore. You need to clean the singles with a velvet cleaner and/or with cotton wall pads and clear alcohol which dries quickly and takes off old gunk from the vinyl and makes your old singles sound great again. You simply rub the vinyl with the soaked pad and the dirt comes off. You can then buy unscratched but dirty singles, clean them up and they sound fine so this doesn't put you off buying old ones.

You can make the selection cards by typing on an Excel spreadsheet and printing off on normal, coloured or transparent A4 paper available from Paperchase or an art shop. The light will then shine through the coloured paper so you can customise the look to be one particular colour or tutti frutti style to suit your taste or room. I'm including some original tear off jukebox cards you can write on the back of in biro to get you started.

You need to fill the carousel full with 100 x 7", 45rpm vinyl singles with the holes punched out of the middle - this gives you 200 selections when working properly. If you find a selection that won't work, you just switch the record over to a selection that will work and make a note of the ones that don't work to get them fixed.

Sadly I need the space now and am selling this and a lot of other bulky items including a fully working Art Deco Itonia gramophone and a whole collection of about 300 of The Face magazines, a collection of 44 Blitz magazines and a collection of the first 147 Wallpaper magazines + extras amongst other magazines etc. Check out my other items for sale- if you buy any opt these too- they can be picked up together by arrangement.
