Description

For your consideration, three original "home" recording records from WWII vintage. During the war, people in the service could go to a USO or service center and record a message and mail it to their loved ones. Similar booths were found in arcades and amusement parks. The one with the Pepsi Cola label was recorded by Navy Lt. Floyd Stafne. The one in the mailer is dated 1943 and is from Private Ed Bartel to someone that I think he'd like to marry. His words are very awkward, but sweet, and were recorded while on leave in Chicago. I can't make out the USO one at all and that one is really a display piece. Keep in mind that these are all 78-speed records, and were not meant to last the test of time, so regular record grading doesn't apply. The fact that two of them are still playable is amazing.
