Description

WYNDRUSH - " LET IT SHINE ", Wealden Studios/Recordings (WS 116) Stereo, 1972.

Ultra, ultra rare English, 1st and only pressing LP by cult Xian Folk trio, Wyndrush.

Recorded in Lenham church in Kent and issued on tiny Kentish label, Wealden. Produced and sold in such tiny numbers, it may as well have been a private press. Ever more collectable after it featured in Hans Pakora's "Record Collector Dreams" book.

Normally, I'd explain what makes this the 1st pressing and quote matrix numbers, etc. But for this record it's pointless... there's this LP and that's it! No re-issues, no CDs, nothing.

English issue and pressing.

Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and then put in a fresh new poly-lined inner sleeve (the original inner sleeve has also been retained and included in the auction - see photo)

CONDITION:

VINYL =  V.G.+ (plays much better)  (No deep scratches, no groove damage, no distortion, no excessive surface noise, etc. Average spindle trails. Looking at this LP, it suffers quite a lot of paper scuffs and some light marks/scratches which can be seen in normal light, not just under a grading lamp. However, these are not deep marks and cannot be felt on the vinyl's surface.

On playback, there is something of a very pleasant surprise. This LP plays much better than it looks - mostly it plays beautifully, in fact. Being very critical and listening with headphones, there was a minute amount of surface noise right at the begining of one side and occasionally from time to time as the record played there is the odd faint background click. But this minute imperfections are very slight and most definitely do not ruin the listening experience. Apart from these, this LP plays strong and clean with distortion or unwanted interuptions from surface noise or other defects. It's not even a bad pressing, especially when you consider that it's from a tiny label in the 70's. Although gradings on ebay seem to be very open to inperpretation, if it was to be graded on playback alone, it would easily make an EX- grading from me and I've bought much worse on here from other sellers descibed as EX or better.

Not a pristine museum piece or a sterile CD (thank goodness!), but a good honest playable copy of a great LP for someone out there to play and enjoy as it was originally intended. Of course this LP will sell for less than perfectly clean copies, but it would be a great opportunity for someone to pick up at a better price... and to be honest, hardly any copies of this LP ever come up for sale in any condition.

Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)

SLEEVE = V.G.+ (No big creases, rips, tears, etc. Had to be marked down for some lighter handling/thumb creases in the laminate, a few grubby areas on the white back which also suffers the words "Julie 1973 XMAS" in small bule biro writing - see photos for further clarification)

NOTE: I must point out that we are actually a long standing physical record shop, with many decades worth of selling, trading and grading records under our collective belts. Unlike so many of the jokers now selling records on ebay, we know how to grade records. Before bidding, please read my description carefully, decide how much this record is worth to you and place you max bid accordingly. Please also feel free to check out my feedback from the many other successful transactions I have made in the past.
