WYNTON KELLY "RARE" FACTORY SEALED MINT VINYL 1975 10" BLUE NOTE REISSUE OF 1951 RELEASE. UNOPENED AND UNPLAYED!
Only eight years before his significant contribution (Freddie Freeloader) to Miles' classic, "Kind of Blue," Wynton struck out as a group leader with a number of trios starting with the players on this LP. Previous to this recording, Wynton had toured the Caribbean at age 15 with Ray Abrams octet! For the following years he had worked with various R&B singers and, finally three years as accompanist to Dinah Washington before setting out on his own.
Besides Wynton on Piano, Lee Abrams on Drums and Oscar Pettiford* and Franklin Skeete play Bass . *Oscar Pettiford replaces Franklin Skeete on Blue Moon and Born To Be Blue, taking a fine solo on the latter according to Leonard Feather's liner notes.
This album received a 4.5 out of 5 on AllMusic.com by jazz fans. Of note: the album has a clean corner cut on the upper right corner of the cover.
Wynton Kelly has tremendous followers and buyers globally. An original sealed, mint vinyl copy should easily sell above $50!
