Description

This is the famous performance, broadcast on Italian radio in 1953, and widely regarded as one of the finest of recorded performances. The sound quality is clean and without distortion.

Magnificent cast: Ferdinand Franz (Wotan), Martha Modl (Brunnhilde), Ludwig Suthaus (Siegfried), Wolfgang Windgassen (Siegmund and Loge), Gustav Neidlinger (Alberich), Hilde Konetzni (Sieglinde), Gottlob Frick (Hunding), Joseph Griendl (Hagen).

Each side of the paper sleeve to each disc has the contents indicated. This is to help find your way round - finding your way and 36 sides is not easy. So the first side of Die Walkure is marked W1.1 indicating that this is the first of the three sides that cover Act 1 of that opera.

18 LPs, issued in 1972. General introductory booklet about the historic performance and German/English librettos to the four operas.
