Description
Wagner's "Der Ring des Nibelungen" (The Ring of the Nibelung) LP set from Philips, number 6769 074, complete with hardback book. This is a live digital recording of the famous opera cycle at its centennial in Bayreuth, Germany, as conducted by Pierre Boulez with the Orchester der Bayreuther Festspiele. It has 16 records in four boxed sets, plus a 160-page hardback book "Boulez in Bayreuth: The Centenary Ring". Records were manufactured and book printed in The Netherlands; all are copyright 1981.
The boxed sets, with Philips numbers and condition, are:
> "Das Rheingold" (The Rhinegold); Philips 6769-070; 3 LPs (+ booklet, we assume); New and sealed
> "Die Walkure" (The Valkyrie); Philips 6769-071; 4 LPs (+ booklet, we assume); New and sealed
> "Siegfried"; Philips 6769-072; 4 LPs + full-size, 40-page booklet; Open -- records have no signs of having been played; booklet is perfect with no marks, writing, etc.
> "Gotterdammerung" (Twilight of the Gods); Philips 6769-073; 5 LPs + full-size, 48-page booklet; Open -- records have no signs of having been played; booklet is perfect with no marks, writing, etc.
The book has features on Boulez and producer Patrice Chereau, and pictures of the opera scenes. Features are in German, French and English. It's about 12 1/2" tall by 9 1/2" wide, and is excellent with no damage or wear.
