Description
Wagner Tristan und Isolde Furtwangler UK HMV ALP 1030/5
This extremely rare recording features Kirsten Flagstad as Isolde and Ludwig Suthaus as Tristan with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Rudolf Schock, Blanche Thebom and others. The Philharmonia Orchestra and Covent Garden Chorus is conducted by Wilhelm Furtwangler. A six record set, this is an English mono pressing on the HMV Label (ALP 1030/5). The labels are red with gold lettering, a large semi circle dog logo, Made in Gt. Britain at 6 o’clock and a groove. There is a mark on side twelve that causes a few clicks and crackle for a dozen or revolutions, and a scuff on side four does not sound. Otherwise the records are of excellent appearance and play and sound superb with occasional surface noise. Most of the covers have some minor rubbing and are in excellent condition.
All my records are visually checked under a strong light and play tested - extensively if any doubt as to condition. I take pride in making my descriptions as accurate as possible. View my other auctions more English and rare Classical Records.
