Wagner: Siegfried Idyll- Bruno Walter conducting
Symphony Orchestra (2-12" U.S. Viva  Tonal label
shellac  78rpm discs from the late 1920s: 68011/12.
Early edition of prized recording later reissued
as X-26 in Columbia's 2-record set series. The
Symphony Orchestra is probably the forerunner
of the BBC ( a virtuoso orchestra of hand-picked
players from London's large pool of virtuoso
players assembled for radio broadcasts in the
early 1930s. Beautiful, tender performance of
Wagner's  dreamy salute to his first born son.
Walter's famous lyrical intensity engages the
London musicians in a memorable performance.
