Cinema legend Peter Ustinov turned in a broad and delightful performance as Edward Teach, more familiarly known as Blackbeard the pirate, in Walt Disney’s big screen comedy Blackbeard’s Ghost. Dean Jones conjured him up, Suzanne Pleshette was confused by the spectral shenanigans, Joby Baker tried to outfox the old buccaneer, and Elsa Lanchester was just thrilled to see the gallant scoundrel.

Here is the record of radio commercials released by Disney’s Buena Vista Distribution Company to promote the 1976 re-release of their 1968 film Blackbeard’s Ghost. (Maybe the film’s return was timed to capitalize on the popularity of the recently opened, original “Pirates of the Caribbean” attraction at Disneyland?) Unusually for these “radio spot” records, there are no identifying numbers on this record—not on the label, nor scratched into the vinyl around the label. (Scratched into the vinyl instead is ‘“Blackbeard’s Ghost” Spots’)

There are 3 radio commercials, each 30 seconds long, and set for a “live tag” at the end, which would be spoken over a music bed by a local broadcaster. Heard in the commercials are frequent Disney announcer Dick Wesson, famed voice actor Len Weinrib, and (briefly) Peter Ustinov as Captain Blackbeard, himself.

CONDITION: This record is incredibly clean, and plays beautifully with no surface noise detected. HOWEVER, please note that this 12” LP does have a slight warp to it, which makes the tone arm ride up and down a bit as the record is played. Despite this, we noticed NO sound distortion or any other playback issue despite this!

International Buyers:

For all international destinations, postage will also be the responsibility of the buyer.
For light, flat envelope purchases weighing less than 1 pound (lb.), USPS First Class Mail International will be used, unless the buyer wishes to use a different service.
For dimensionally shaped parcels and packages, items with a value of less than US$400 AND a weight of less than 4 pounds (lbs.) will be sent via USPS First Class Package International. Those prices will be determined on a case by case basis.
