Description
redgarnett Store ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This fine LP from Italian HMV · La Voce del Padrone (QIM 6341, Italian pressing, red/white semi-circle label, mono) features Bruno Walter’s first commercial recording of Brahms’s Symphony No. 3 in F Major Op. 90, recorded in the warm acoustics of the Musikvereinsaal, Vienna, on 18-19 May 1936. Walter is more the firebrand here; with swifter tempi it is a more cogent reading than his later NYPO and Columbia SO account, yet it is no less lyrical.
In lieu of liner notes, the reverse side of the jacket carries a listing of other titles in the “Invito all Musica” series. The striking cover art gracing the front panel is uncredited.
CONDITION – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the gatefold jacket is VERY GOOD-. There is some edgewear, discoloration and creasing, but that is all. There are no seamsplits, owners’ markings, bends, or other defects, and the album remains solid, bright, and attractive – overall, a very good collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. Though there is occasional light surface noise, in general the playback remains quite fine. However, those wanting a flawless or near-MINT copy are kindly advised to look elsewhere. Overall, this rates as an excellent collector's copy.
PLEASE NOTE:
This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
