REUNION AT CARNEGIE HALL, 1963 -
Analogue Productions APF005 Re-Mastering and Audiophile Pressing
of Vanguard VSD-2150 –
Recommended by TAS –
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!
On the TAS list in the popular category, there are only ten albums from all of recorded literature that have ever been favored with the "Best of the Bunch" honor.
This is one.
The Weavers' REUNION, in fact, is renowned for its audio capture, particularly in the sense of how alive and utterly natural it sounds…as if, yes, you are sitting right there in the concert hall. (And, believe me, the 1963 Carnegie was no slouch in the acoustics department.)
If you are unfamiliar with the famous folk group, the music here includes tunes like WHEN THE SAINTS GO MARCHING IN, WOKE UP THIS MORNING, IF I HAD A HAMMER, GOODNIGHT IRENE, and RAMBLIN' BOY, among others.
This is an especially fine audiophile edition (APF005), re-mastered by Doug Sax and pressed in limited edition on pure virgin vinyl. Jacket is crisp, like new; silver label record within plays near mint.
A true classic in recorded literature, that proves to be an audiophile demonstration record of what "live" can truly sound like, particularly with the original master tapes rolling through tube gear, as is the want of Doug Sax in his re-mastering.
Simply one of the best pressings of this you will find. First lot, first stamper.
For other fine records, TAS picks and hard-to-finds, please see my complete list of offerings here on eBay.
Shipping and handling is $5 for up to 5 LPs shipped within the States. Internationally, $15 via airmail for the first LP, $3 each thereafter. (Canada is half that.) Boxes over 4 lbs., add another $6, because First Class is no longer available at that weight, just Priority Mail. Note, too, boxed sets of LPs require more postage.
