Description
White Lightning, "Of Paupers And Poets" b/w "William" (Hexagon) Rare and GREAT original psych classic 45 from Minnesota by White Lightning, the band that emerged from The Litter. The brilliant "Of Paupers And Poets" was written by legendary Warren Kendrick, the guy who famously wrote "Action Woman" for The Litter, and a host of other killer garage and psych songs ("Dirty Old Man," "This Week's Children" et al.). It's up to his very high standards. And the flip, "William," has some crazy-good guitar soloing and drum work. There's a manufacturer's pressing flaw at the beginning of "Of Paupers And Poets" that results in a half-dozen pops, but no skips -- all the pops are before the vocal starts. After that glitch, "Of Paupers And Poets" plays Mint-minus. "William" is VG++. The labels are Mint-minus on "William", VG- on "Of Paupers And Poets" -- with the big number "20" 2 times in black magic marker (see my scan). I've no idea why. Play-graded. Strict grading. Both sides produced by the great Warren Kendrick.
