Who Mastered Who's Next (And Why It Matters)
Conventional wisdom has it that classic Who sounds best on Track Record pressings. However, conventional wisdom doesn't apply to Who's Next because it was mastered by Doug Sax using the master tapes at The Mastering Lab in Los Angeles. Stampers made from the master tapes were then used on the very 1st Decca pressing.
This very 1st Decca pressing with both sides having "W1" in the matrix was pressed on the West Coast and cut from the original master tapes by Doug Sax. The 1st Track pressing also used the Decca stamper with the hand-etched "MG 12888" for Side 1, but did not use the Decca stamper for Side 2.
Read more about how this incredible album was cut, its various pressings, and why the Decca 1st pressing sounds so damn good at the Steve Hoffman Music Forums: http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/the-who-whos-next-vinyl-my-pet-theory.104005/

GRADING INFORMATION
- I grade conservatively. MINT is a sealed LP; NEAR MINT is an open LP/cover
with virtually no signs of use/wear; EXCELLENT is a well-looked-after LP/cover
with light signs of use/wear; VERY GOOD+ is an LP/cover with average signs of
use/wear but is not trashed. - I use unforgiving sunlight and incandescent light to visually grade each LP.
- I don’t make unverifiable claims as to how many plays a non-sealed LP has had.
Please note: eBay's shipping cost is only an estimate and may not reflect actual shipping cost.
If you do not live in the United States, I will ship your item only through eBay's Global Shipping Program.
