Description
Number 1865 of 3000 Limited Edition. Unique cardboard sleeve with a tuck in slot for the front tab. Beautiful packaging. Also includes a 12 x 28 full color, double sided, folded original cover art insert with catalog information. I have not looked this in a long time. This is a very impressive package. There is a very small tear were the tab enters the slot on the back. There is a picture of it, the 3rd one. This is the release with Vic Chesnutt's Aunt Avis on it.
Never played, never taken out of the sleeve until today. I worked for Widespread Panic's record company in the 90's and received this copy then. I have my own personal copy, this is an extra that has been sitting in my office for the last 20 + years. If I wasn't retiring and selling my house it would probably sit there for another twenty. I am not a record grader, I just know the history of this particular record. And I believe it is in as near mint condition as possible. Zero spindle marks. This record has so much sheen I used it as a mirror to comb my hair. The colors are as bright as the day it was printed. The only defects I see on the cover I have taken pictures of. Little corner dings from storage and shipment. These promos were never shrink wrapped so you're going to have that. The pictures tell the story of this record, please examine them carefully, and know what you are buying. There may still be paper dust from the sleeve on the record. I wasn't going to put it on my turntable to clean it and risk getting spindle marks. Thanks for looking.

Widespread Panic is an American rock band from Athens, Georgia. The current lineup includes guitarist/singer John Bell, bassist Dave Schools, drummer Duane Trucks, percussionist Domingo "Sunny" Ortiz, keyboardist John "JoJo" Hermann, and guitarist Jimmy Herring. The band's original guitarist and sometime songwriter, Michael Houser, died of pancreatic cancer in 2002, and the original drummer, Todd Nance, left in 2016 and died in 2020.[1]
The band was formed in Athens, Georgia, in 1986, and is influenced by the Southern rock, blues-rock, progressive rock, funk and hard rock genres. They have been compared to other jam bands such as the Grateful Dead and Phish.[2] Widely renowned for their live performances, as of 2018, they hold the record for number of sold-out performances at Red Rocks Amphitheatre (Morrison, Colorado) at 60 and State Farm Arena (Atlanta) at 20.
Bombs & Butterflies is the fifth studio album by the Athens, Georgia-based band Widespread Panic. The band started recording the album in July 1996 at John Keane's studio in Athens. The band held a CD release party at Morton Theatre in Athens, one day prior to their Fox Theatre New Year's Eve run on December 28, 1996. It was first released by Capricorn Records on February 4, 1997. It would later be re-released in 2001 by Zomba Music Group.
On June 19, 1997, the band performed "Aunt Avis" on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. Two days later, on June 21, the music video for "Aunt Avis", directed by Billy Bob Thornton, premiered on VH1. The video had been filmed in April 1997 and featured Athens singer-songwriter Vic Chesnutt, who wrote the song.
The album reached a peak position of #50 on the Billboard 200 chart. The track "Hope in a Hopeless World" was a hit on rock radio, charting at #13 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks in 1997.[2] It is the band's biggest hit to date.
