"As near as one can tell from the photographs on the back of the LP, Doodzonde was a film combining blasphemous attacks on organized religion, socialist worker's rebellions, and werewolves. Willem Breuker's soundtrack for the film often strikes a suitably eerie tone, utilizing microtonal string writing out of the Penderecki school, as well as relying in large part upon thematic material stated by the oboe and bassoon, all of which combine to set a surrealistically desolate mood. Though the pieces tend to be short and fragmentary, Breuker's composing and arranging skills are very much in evidence; the lovely title theme slips in and out of various instrumental groupings acquiring a different shading each time. Breuker himself does not play on this session, though trombonist Bernard Hunnekink and drummer Rob Verdurmen, each a member of the Kollektief, are part of the ensemble. Fans of his work will want to hear this example of his sober, even bleak, soundtrack compositions. Originally released as an individual LP in 1978, it was reissued to disc in 1998 along with Breuker's soundtrack Twice a Woman/Twee Vrouwen under the title Deadly Sin, though, unfortunately, without the provocative covers photographs which graced the vinyl editions" ~ Brian Olewnick, All Music Guide
