William Jennings Bryan 1908 Presidential Election record

 

Play-graded using a 1970's BSR record player, 33/45/78 with a stylus for 78 rpm records. 

 

The Labor Question/The Trust Question—not listed in DAHR, but other selections by Bryan with close matrix numbers were recorded for Columbia on September 14, 1908.

 

Columbia’s 1908 election records are far less common than Victors, in my experience.

 

Looks better than average: does have scuffs and a grouping of scratches on Trust Question side at 2 P.M. position. Remnant of price sticker present. I will leave that to the buyer to remove as opinions no doubt vary as to what should be employed for cleaning.

 

Plays V/V+ Average to slightly above average-sounding; not so much because of surface noise, as that the speeches sound rather distant. Thus, not recording studio quality, so to speak.
