Wilson Audio W-8111 – “Magnum Opus”, James Welch (Organ), Flentrop Organ, St. Mark’s Cathedral, Seattle, WA, - This purely analogue organ recording has been praised for its extremely realistic sound quality. It appeared on HP's TAS Super Disk List in 1994, and the sound is dazzling with wonderfully reverberant hall ambiance, astounding imaging and very powerful and dynamic low bass (the pedal notes will shake your walls). In all the Wilson recordings, I find that the highs are extended, but always sweet and smooth - never harsh or grating. This copy is virtually perfect – I purchased it myself sealed when it was released, and have played it only twice – once when I purchased it, and once tonight. The vinyl surfaces are clean, glossy, and exceptionally quiet with NO pops, clicks, tics, or skips - it is perfectly quiet, with NO marks whatsoever. The vinyl looks and plays mint (M), and the labels also look new. The jacket shows minor shelf wear (see photos) so I will grade it EX. In summary, this is a nearly MINT copy of this wonderful audiophile analogue recording. Feel free to return for a full refund if not completely satisfied.
