Wilson Audio W-8315 – Beethoven, Sonata in G Major Op. 96 for Piano and Violin, Enescu, Sonata No 3 Op. 25 in Rumanian Folkstyle, David Abel, Violin, Julie Steinberg, Piano, - This pure analogue recording has a very realistic, “you are there-like” sound quality and imaging. In all the Wilson recordings, I find that the overall tonal balance is slightly warm, and never strident. I purchased this copy myself sealed when it was first released, and have played it only twice – once when I purchase it, and once tonight. The vinyl surfaces are clean, glossy, and very quiet EXCEPT for 3 grooves in track 1, side 2 that have a slight pressing imperfection that leads to 3 clicks/scrapes, each less than 1 sec each and separated by about a minute – the first is the loudest and the following two are progressively softer. Slight marks are visible on these 3 grooves. Other than that, the vinyl looks and plays mint (M). The labels also look new, as does the jacket, however there is a slight smudge (also from manufacturing) on the front cover (see photos). In summary, this is an ALMOST perfect copy of this wonderful audiophile analogue recording, marred only by a slight pressing defect on 3 grooves, and a small smudge on the front of the jacket.
