Description
For sale is Wings' Venus and Mars, originally released in 1975 by Apple Records in a gate-fold presentation and reissued by Columbia Records. I bought this record used, then professionally cleaned it on my VPI HW-17 machine and immediately put it into a MFSL archival inner sleeve. This preserves the integrity of the vinyl and any insert(s) or original inner sleeve(s) that may have come with the release. The inner sleeve is Near Mint. The two posters that were included were neatly folded and are still Near Mint. The original sticker that shows the comparative sizes of the Sun and Planets is torn a little at its fold, but I would graded it as Very Good Plus. In the dead wax between the label and the last track are the matrix numbers 2-C/2-C, signifying that an early stamper was used to make this reissue, sought after by collectors and music lovers for their superior sound quality. The cover is graded as VG because of slight ring wear, corner blunts, edge wear, stress cracks along the spine and a crease by the spine. The spine has color loss from these rubs and stress cracks. The vinyl is visually graded as Near Mint Minus with the faintest of hairline sleeve marks. I'm play-grading it as Excellent because of an occasional pop and very low level surface noise. It's been played only on Audiophile equipment since I bought it and still has a lot of life yet. This would make a great addition to a anyone's collection. This is the best copy of this release that I have ever seen or heard, and you would be hard pressed to find one in this condition. Over the years I've used Dust Bugs, Disc Washers and have finally invested in a professional VPI record cleaning machine. Now that I'm retiring, I'm selling my very esoteric collection. I'm not a professional grader of records, but will use record guides, as well as my personal experiences as a basis of my grading all records. Since grading is subjective, I will be conservative.
