Wishbone Ash: Argus Vintage LP 1972 MINT LP and Cover
I purchased this as a late release in the 70s. I believe the early release was a double fold-out cover, if I remember correctly. The album was first released in 1972, but strangely, was copyrighted 1969 on the vinyl itself (one of the songs was probably an early writing). The Argus album is relatively rare and much sought-after.
Wishbone Ash was one of the first (the first?) artists to have a long-playing-time (9 minutes) hit on FM radio - "Time Was." It first popularized the classic long, slow build-up, terminating in a hard-hitting rock melody/anthem song. "Time Was" was played repeatedly on FM during 1972, because they were the only ones who could get away with playing a song that was more than ~3.5 minutes. "Time Was" is the first selection on the Argus album.
As with most of the LPs from Beezar Audio, this one was played once for a needle drop cassette recording, then stored vertically in air-conditioned space ever since.
