This auction is for the complete Whitherby's Sound Guide to British Birds. These are the classic 1958 vintage 78rpm Album/Book sets. A comprehensive guide to British birdsong.

This extraordinary collection was produced in co-operation with the BBC by Myles North and Eric Simms.
This hansdome set comprises of thirteen ten-inch 78rpm shellac records and two hardback guide books. The records contain around 195 vintage, good quality field recordings of birdsong. The guide books provide further information.
Set one: Non-Passerines - The Larger Birds.
Set two: Passerines - The Smaller Birds
These are housed in beautifully designed top-opening boxes. Each has card dividers and a rear slot which secures the fabric covered hardback guide books.
The records and books are in excellent condition. The packaging is very good with light wear to the outside. Please examine photos carefully.
As a complete collection it is both beautiful in design terms and very, very rare. It requires a record player that can play 78rpm records.
This is a highly sought-after, big and heavy set which will be carefully packed.
This will suit both the bird lover and the aficionado of fine design.
