Description

What is this?  Ha ha!  Nobody knows, it's just a completely unknown gem that I found at a recording studio in Houston in 1980. I asked the engineer what it was, as it just totally got my attention and he did not remember much except to say it had to date from the early 70's since they had stopped cutting acetates by then. The strange thing about it is that it is not a studio recording, not to my ears. It sounds like it was recorded in a garage or small room, there's no echo or reverb here, but it's not studio quality to my ears.  The band is a three piece, there's no vocals.  The music is just wild, off the cuff hard rock/psyche with a very heavy feeling of there being lots of ingestion of MJ going on. The guitar work seems to incorporate the use of some kind of flanged cry baby type effect now and then which gives it a vaguely Hendrxian feel or rather more like Billy T.K. of  Human Instinct. I guess if I had to draw comparisons to something, which is not easy to do for this one, I guess it reminded me a little of Human Instinct I suppose but maybe that mixed with Danish monsters MOSES or perhaps more accurately Blues Addicts. I was of course floored when I played it for the first time because it was the first real discovery of something of this magnitude that I had ever made.  The fact that there's absolutely nothing out there about this band, it's just a total one of a kind hopelessly obscure and forever destined to be unknown little gem. It is an acetate, but it hasn't been played much and has held up well over the years. The cover is worn, a little yellowing, and the image on the cover appears to be some kind of original art the band probably had considered to be the cover art and is rather disturbing. The artwork is demented, scary, and I would just call it schizophrenic perhaps in the same way the Pink Floyd Wall imagery is.  There's no hint at all about when, where, who, how, why, what - it's just a pure mystery but man, it's just got loads of vibe and really this little acetate has been my most prized item in all of my collection and I have a very oddball collection. I have several very rare and obscure items kind of like this, but this one sits at the very top of the heap. I personally do not care if I get a bid. Honestly, I really do not even want to get rid of this one. My feeling is if I get what I want for it, then that person will treat it the same way I have for the last 32 years, and will appreciate it for what it is and not worry if it's listed in this book or documented on so and so's blog or whatever.  The fact that it's completely unknown is what makes it so special to me. I found this, me!  This one exists now and can be heard by one lucky bidder because I was curious enough, and bold enough, to spot it hiding in a dark corner of a place where I really had no right to be foraging in the first place!  The fact the engineer let me take it is in itself a minor miracle. Then again, why would anyone have imagined this item would have any value?  That's fine - to me this curious little acetate is priceless. Before you ask - the reserve is VERY HIGH.  How high?  If you have to ask you probably should not bid.

I changed the return policy to include an option in case your album arrives damaged. I am now using a better quality shipping box, and usually if you are willing to add insurance to the package, it's about 1 out of 100 that an album arrives damaged. It happens, but only very occasionally.

I could list here a whole bunch of policies on how to bid, pay, and what not but it's really quite simple. If you are the winning bidder - please pay for your item in a minimum of three business days or email me otherwise to make arrangements.  I will ship the item by media rate which takes longer but it's cheaper. However you MUST buy insurance on the package!  I can guarantee my grading to be accurate but if you disagree with anything at all I invite polite correspondence in order to achieve a resolution. I have photographs of each and every item I list so that if any damage occurs on your end I can show proof of condition before item shipped. If the item is insured, than both parties are covered. There's also PAYPAL buyer protection so take advantage.

If you require shipping by any other means, than please contact me and we can make appropriate arrangements. If you are too busy to communicate your wants and needs, how will I be able to meet your expectations?  Communicate! If you have any questions at all, about shipping, returns, insurance, packing, grading, etc. please contact me for a personal one to one answer. One size does not fit all - sometimes every situation is unique and I like to handle them that way. I know most seller have lengthy rules and policy guidelines and that makes bidders feel warm and fuzzy, but I prefer direct communication because it establishes honesty and communication with people, and establishes trust above all.

I always respond to communication. I am available through multiple channels. musictotheworld at hotmail dot com  shroom at trinicom dot com  on Facebook under ShroomAngel Records  and through Ebay.

Good luck and happy hunting!

I have a sound sample available to anyone who requests it. Just please keep in mind I ripped the audio years ago and have since remastered it using multi band compression, EQ, click and pop removal, etc. and as such the audio I have sounds so much better and cleaner than the acetate. I worked it, and it shows. I understand that might mean certain things to certain people, I will not tell anyone what to do with the acetate once they own it. I would be crazy not to want a copy of it for myself and that's why I have done what I have done and I make no apologies. I will not circulate my remastered audio if it is not something the new owner would appreciate. I leave the decision up to the new owner. To share or not to share. Anyway ask for a sample and I will send the link.
