Description

Up for auction is one of the all time greatest 60’s garage 45’s of all time. The XL’S doing “MARYJANE”. The flip is titled, “Mixed With The Rain”. Released on Paro Records XL-202. Reportedly 500 of these were pressed in 1966.

Maryjane is one of the all time greatest acid influenced garage punk monsters ever. Why this is not included in the “Best of Pebbles” series must be due to it’s obscurity. Substained guitar, throbbing bass with wild drug related shouting vocals makes for one kind of a ride.

Visually vinyl has two light lines which travel the length width of the vinyl. These do not effect play and basically are just scuffs. Has a light scratch at intro and ending which causes light surface noise in intro/non music area. At ending, there are about 6-8 clicks/pops noticed when music fades out. Otherwise, plays loud, clear, crisp and mostly clean. (areas of concern noted). The music is so loud and strong that these small imperfections are easily overlooked due to it’s greatness and obscurity. The flip side is kinda light flavor with horns about a girl breakout. Certainly nothing memorable about it as compared to “Maryjane”.

An honest grade of VG+ or a bit nicer. “The Mixed With The Rain” side looks nicer and grades VG++. Center label has light to some ring wear and grades VG+. Additional information regarding this release is documented on the web at Beyond The Beat Generation. A super rare garage 45 which has only come up for auction a few times in the last several years. Enjoy.
