Description
YARDBIRDS "HAVING A RAVE UP" 1966 Epic stereo original pressing of their 2nd U.S. LP. Featuring Jeff Beck on lead guitar! BN 26177 VG+/M
The Yardbirds followed hot on the heels of the Rolling Stones in London playing the more sophistcated Chicago blues & revved-up versons of U.S. rhythm & blues tunes as opposed to the teen-oriented Merseybeat sound from Liverpool & points north. This album features new member Jeff Beck on lead guitar (although Eric Clapton plays on some tracks). Keith Relf handles the lead vocals & harmonica with Chis Dreja, Jim McCarty & Paul Samwell-Smith rounding out the rest of the group. Features the great follow-up single "Heart Full Of Soul" plus their definitive renditions of Bo Diddley's "I'm A Man" & Tiny Bradshaw's "The Train Kept A-Rollin"" (long before Aerosmith recorded it). The material on side 2 appeared on the U.K. LP "Five Live Yardbirds" but the 6 songs on side 1 are unique to this release. This album had no U.K. counterpart at the time Produced by Giorgio Gomelsky, their first manager with group member Paul Samwell-Smith also serving as musical director. Electronically re-channeled for stereo sound.
10 tracks- You're A Better Man Than I, Evil Hearted You, I'm A Man, Still I'm Sad, Heart Full Of Soul, The Train Kept A-Rollin', Smokestack Lightning, Respectable, I'm A Man (live) & Here 'Tis.
Cover has negligible ring wear on the front top, left edge & right side, a small "Demonstation" sticker on the lower left front & minor "crinkling" from H2O along the bottom edge (more noticeable on the back). Still looks shiny & glossy; graded at VG+. Record is MINT with no scratches or scuffs. Yellow Epic labels look great!
